Shangri-La Dialogue

India announced at the Shangri-La Dialogue in Singapore that it has signed an agreement to supply BrahMos supersonic cruise missiles to Vietnam. 

About Shangri-La Dialogue

  • The Shangri-La Dialogue is also known as the Asia Security Summit.
  • It is regarded as Asia’s premier defence and security forum.
  • It was started in 2002 and is held annually in Singapore.
  • The forum is named after the Shangri-La Hotel, Singapore, where it is traditionally organised.
  • It is organised by the International Institute for Strategic Studies, London.
  • The event brings together defence ministers, military chiefs, senior officials, diplomats, strategic experts and policymakers from the Asia-Pacific and beyond.
  • Focus: It focuses on regional security, territorial disputes, military cooperation, Indo-Pacific issues, terrorism, cybersecurity, climate change, maritime security and defence partnerships.
